I was awarded the Diploma of Arts in 1982, and the Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Art Studies at C.O.F.A., University of N.S.W. in 1983.
I have held 46 solo exhibitions since 1986, and been included in many major selective group exhibitions.

I received the prestigious Marten Bequest Travelling Art Scholarship for Painting in 1996 and was also awarded the 1996 Dyason Bequest by the Trustees of the Art Gallery of N.S.W., to travel and paint extensively throughout Europe and the U.S.A. for 2 years.
In 1997 the Trustees of the Art Gallery of N.S.W. awarded me a residency for 3 months at the Moya Dyring Studio of the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, and I received a further residency at the Studio of the American Academy in Rome.
Finalist in the 1986,1997 and 2008 Sulman Prize for Genre/History Painting, 5 times a finalist in the Dobell Prize for Drawing and 6 times a finalist in the Wynne Prize for Landscape, winning the 1990, 1995 and 1996 Pring Prize for Watercolour and the 1995 Trustees’ Prize for Watercolour in the Wynne Prize, Art Gallery of N.S.W.
I have won over 120 art prizes, and completed many major commissions for government and corporate clients.
In 2006 I received the inaugural Sydney Harbour Week Award for artistic achievement.
A major retrospective of my work was the signature event of the 2006 Industrial Heritage Festival of the National Trust of Australia.

The Artist -Painting the "Tamerlane", a Wallenius Wilhelmsen  ship on the "Hungry Mile" for my major solo exhibition "Trains Cranes and Ships" at the headquarters of the National Trust.

My canvas "Closing the Gap", painted from the summit of the A.N.Z.A.C. Bridge during its construction, was exhibited in the "ONE Hundred" exhibition of the 100 most iconic objects in their collection to celebrate the centenary of the Mitchell Library, State Library of N.S.W.
