These are in North Eveleigh, close to Redfern station. The recently refurbished cultural venue of Carriageworks is to the west. Now all of the rolling stock has been removed from this disused railyard and its future use is up for grabs.

Since these canvases of the area in front of the Heritage Store and the Suburban Car Workshops were painted 5 years ago, the tracks have become overgrown with grass and weeds. All the heritage rolling stock has been dispersed, to Thirlmere and beyond.

The interior of the Heritage Store  looks like the last scene of 'The Raiders of the Lost Ark' - mysterious piles of things  ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous stacked in apparent chaos.

This was the last painting that I completed of the 3801 at the Large Erecting Shop, Eveleigh.

"The End" - Departure of 3801 from the Large Erecting Shop for the last time
At the very end of this video, I can be briefly seen scampering into the shed to get another photo angle. I then climbed on board for the 3801's last run to Robertson from the Eveleigh Railway Workshops.

This steam train is about 120 years old and is no longer operational. This was it's first ever visit to Eveleigh. It arrived at the 'Large Erecting Shop' from Thirlmere at about 1.30pm and will depart for Central at about 5am Monday 23rd August, so I had to work quickly! By 5pm it was too dark to do any more painting, and lots of the shunters were gathered around to take photos of it. These photos of me, my painting and Thomas the Tank Engine are courtesy of one of my friends from the 3801, at the 'Large Erecting Shop'.

Nice images - this was my neighbourhood growing up and every day we heard the whistle blow to schedule the worker's breaks and leaving.
